Animation is a bit laggy
The Croods for Android is basically one big commercial for the animated Dreamworks movie. The programming is slick and polished, but the game isn't exactly breaking any new ground.
The Croods takes place in prehistoric times. You're part of the Crood family and your job is to help build your compound so you can survive the dangers of being a caveman. Gather berries, build traps, and capture weird and adorable animals, like the Molarbear. The play is fun and inviting and I think kids would love the strange and goofy animals. They've programmed a lot of humor into the presentation and story which helps keep things engaging.

The controls are good and work essentially the same as all games of this format; just tap the screen to build structures, gather rewards and complete actions. The graphics are excellent and very much looked like a natural extension of the movie itself, which is very funny, by the way. Playing this game is just like watching another chapter of the movie.
The animation is crisp and smooth with only minor hangs. The sounds are just silly and funny; Granny in particular is a hoot. The animals are interesting and are mostly a mash-up of several real animals all mixed together, so it keeps things lighthearted.
The Croods is good fun and enjoyable to look at. I think it could actually even be considered a little educational. This is a great companion app to a fun movie.
