Here's a game I haven't played in decades. Thus, I was a bit surprised the company never went pdf. Until now, that is.

I like the sounds of that.

I'd love to get Rifts stuff in PDF.

Palladium Fantasy® Heroes Unlimited™ After the Bomb® Ninjas & Superspies™ Beyond the Supernatural™ Dead Reign® Nightbane® Rifts® Rifts® Chaos Earth® Rifts® Core Books; Rifts® Conversion Books; Rifts® Dimension Books; Rifts® Sourcebooks; Rifts® World Books; Other Rifts® Books; Rifts® Miniatures; Rifts® Novels; Rifts® Chaos. RIFTS CHARACTER SHEET The following is intended to help players organize characters as much as possible. It is intended that you type in the information to each blank spot (starting with the character name), and then print it out for a clean, neat referance. Rifts ® East Coast By Ted Brock. Indeed, while Palladium has spent two entire books dedicated to the western HALF of the old American Empire, there is almost nothing on the eastern portion. Psyscape, Federation of Magic, Canada, and Free Quebec filled in some of the gaps, but not many. I have attempted to fill in some of these gaps as best.

WotC pulls PDFs in a fit, and Palladium celebrates PDFs ...

Anyone checked the temperature in Hell lately? I think they might need some blankets down there...

Thats getting off subject however in the end glad that Rifts is alive and well on the PDF market.

Palladium Books materials, for me, are actually a prime example of a PDF product I would buy up in an instant just to have access to the material, but have no interest in the dead-tree versions occupying space on my shelf.

I'm glad there's finally a route to get their materials this way.

Can't wait to see if the pricing and quality is reasonable.

Btw, can some explain to me the use of the word 'deevil' instead of devil in the latest Palladium supp Dyval, Hell on Earth™' target='_blank'>(Rifts® Dimension Book™ 11: Dyval, Hell on Earth™)? And the disclaimer at the beginning of the book? This is 2009, not 1989 or so.

Deevils are like...minor devils, IIRC (it's been a while, so forgive me). The warning in the beginning of the book has been in just about every Palladium book I've ever seen and is a holdover from the dark days of RPGs - which I don't see going away any time soon.

Hiya.

Robotech, Palladium Fantasy I've played a few times...Recon, TMNT and Heroes (Un)Limited I've played once each.

That said...I'm *definitly* jumping all over those PDF's when they come out! :D Good thing I just got $2600 back in taxes...my MstrCrd is gonna need it!

And the first wave is up.

I wasn't aware that Rifts went/will go to a second edition...

I wonder what it is like.

~wry smile~ So I see! I STILL want the dead tree version, however. ~grimaces~ PDFs have their uses, but they just can't beat a real book. IMHO.

If you have first, you basically have 2nd. Don't get me wrong I like some of the rules clean up, and basically I always loved the system, but even calling it revised is well, iffy, at best.

I know Kinko's and stores of it's like don't easily print and bind PDFs anymore... (Probably as an attempt to reduce piracy, but more likely to remove their liability.)

But I know a friend of mine can get them to give in if he brings a copy of the sales receipt. But only sometimes.

It isn't what you are looking for Sharoth, I know. But it is the best suggestion I have.

Thanks to theives, times are a bit tighter at the Hermitage. How high quality are the PDFs?

I don't know yet. I'll be picking some up tomorrow after my paycheck gets deposited.

I'll report then.

Quality is good, clean scans and all text has been OCR'd can select but haven't tried to Cut n'Paste yet, text is searchable. This is based on the six Coalition Wars books I picked up today, but I expect they are all the same quality.

So they're scanned books and not OEF?

Wildfire142

From what been said over on the Palladium forums, they scaned the books and DrivethruRPG OCR'd them but these are the older books not sure what they plan on doing for the newer ones, if/when they are released.

Ah, Palladium my love/hate mistress. I own every damn fantasy book in the series. In 1996 I traded AD&D 2nd ed. for Palladium fantasy 2nd ed.
In 1998 I converted the entire Night Below campaign to Palladium and set it in Krynn. Four years running that monster. Even now I can still hear her psi-ren(get it) call.

KaeYoss

Wow. I suspect I see a lot of goths dressed all in white today, with black makeup in their faces, reciting upbeat poetry and generally rejoicing over the neverending joy that is life.

I then expect a couple of sheep to hunt down and devour a hapless wolf. :D

Truly, the world has turned upside down. Those who were touting the wonders of electronic versions of RPG as 'the future' are getting quotes on mass produced stone tablets, while a company I know mainly from horror stories and which is often said to be very set it its ways embraces the future.

Wildfire142

Small update DrivethruRPG lists them as OEF books.

Disenchanter
So they're scanned books and not OEF?

So I just downloaded the Rifts Core book.

Rifts Palladium Books Pdf

It is clearly a scanned book. On some pages you can even see the 'bend' in the text. The text is a tad bit blurry as well. Not eye straining bad, but if you are used to reading text on a monitor (as I suspect most reading this are) you can notice it.

I took the time to compare it to a copy I found, and it is a tiny bit worse.

All in all, not bad.

Bear in mind, these are pretty much ancient books. They were produced before PDFs became the new thing.

Which the new edition of After the Bomb has in it.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.
For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.
For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
